VocaBoost

Terms of Use

Effective date: 20 August 2026 · Last updated: 11 September 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and Sofiia Triasko ("we", "us", "our") for your use of the VocaBoost mobile application (the "App"), the website at vocaboost.app (the "Website"), and the VocaBoost Chrome extension (the "Extension"). They are intended to meet Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement minimum terms and App Store Review Guideline 3.1.2 (auto-renewable subscriptions).

By downloading, creating an account, or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Agreement to these Terms

You enter this agreement when you create an account, tap a sign-in button that states you agree, purchase a subscription, or otherwise use the App. The English version of these Terms is the governing version.

The App is licensed, not sold, to you. Your licence is personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable, and is for use on Apple-branded products or other devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store or Google Play terms.

2. The App

VocaBoost is a vocabulary-learning service. The App lets you save words, practise them in sentences, schedule reviews with spaced repetition, and receive automated feedback from third-party AI. The Website describes the product. The Chrome extension lets you save a selected word from a webpage into the same library. A free tier is available with limits (including 5 words in the library and 10 graded AI checks per UTC week). Optional auto-renewing subscriptions unlock additional features such as an unlimited library and unlimited AI checks.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features. We do not guarantee that any particular word, language, dictionary entry, or AI output will be available or accurate.

3. Eligibility and age

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are in the European Economic Area, you must be at least 16, or have verifiable consent from a parent or guardian where local law allows a lower age that is still at least 13.

If you are using the App on behalf of another person, you confirm you have authority to bind them to these Terms.

You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

4. Accounts

You need an account to sync progress. You may register with email and password or with Sign in with Apple or Google (Google is also available in the Chrome extension). You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your credentials confidential. Notify us promptly if you believe someone else has used your account.

You may delete your account in the App: Profile → Delete account. Deletion removes your personal data from our production systems as described in the Privacy Policy. Deleting the account does not cancel a store subscription; see section 5.

We may suspend or close an account that we reasonably believe is abusing the App, infringing these Terms, or creating risk for other users or for us.

5. Subscriptions, trials, and payments

VocaBoost Pro is an auto-renewable subscription sold through the Apple App Store (and, where offered, Google Play).

If you subscribe through Apple (Guideline 3.1.2)

Apple (or Google, on Android) is the merchant of record. We do not collect or store your card details. Refunds, billing disputes, and tax invoices are handled by the store under its terms. Restoring purchases in the App re-links an existing store subscription to your VocaBoost account; it does not create a new charge.

Cancelling auto-renewal stops future charges but does not delete your VocaBoost account. Deleting your VocaBoost account does not cancel auto-renewal. Do both if you want to leave completely.

Free-tier limits (including a weekly cap on graded AI checks) may change. We will not increase the price of an existing subscription without following the store's notice rules.

6. Artificial intelligence features

Feedback, example sentences, translations, scoring, and generated speech are produced automatically by Google's Gemini models. Output can be wrong, incomplete, biased, or inappropriate. It is not professional language teaching, translation, or certification. You remain responsible for how you use it.

We do not guarantee any particular score, fluency gain, or exam result. AI processing of your sentences and optional voice clips is described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Voice input

Microphone access is optional. If you grant it, you confirm that you will not record other people without any permission the law requires, and that clips you send are for practising a sentence in the App. Voice clips are sent to our AI provider for transcription and assessment and are not kept after processing. Recordings are limited to 20 seconds.

8. Your content

You retain ownership of the words, sentences, and other content you submit ("User Content"). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, process, transmit, and display User Content solely to operate and improve the App for you (including sending it to subprocessors listed in the Privacy Policy).

Example sentences and computer-generated speech that are not specific to you may be cached and reused for other learners. We do not claim ownership of your personal library.

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit User Content and that it does not violate the law or these Terms.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

10. Our intellectual property

The App, including its name, design, software, and original copy, is owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not transfer any ownership to you. You receive a personal, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the App on devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store or Google Play terms. You may not rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, or sublicense the App.

Dictionary definitions, example sentences, and video clips shown via third-party sites remain the property of their respective owners.

11. Third-party services

The App relies on third parties, including Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Amplitude, Sentry, Expo, Resend, Railway, dictionary providers (Free Dictionary API, Wiktionary, Tatoeba, Datamuse), and YouGlish / YouTube. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services. We are not responsible for outages or changes on their side.

Links or embedded players (including pronunciation videos) are provided for convenience. Visiting them is at your own risk. You must also comply with applicable third-party terms when using the App (for example, your wireless-data agreement).

12. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time and may delete your account as described above. We may stop providing the App or terminate your access if we discontinue the service, if required by law, or if you materially breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) survive termination.

If we terminate the App as a whole, unused paid subscription time is handled under the store's refund rules; we cannot refund Apple or Google charges ourselves.

13. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors, or that AI or dictionary content is correct.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under consumer-protection law in your country of residence, including in the EEA and the United Kingdom.

14. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the App is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for the App in the 12 months before the claim or (b) 50 euros. Store fees paid to Apple or Google are not paid to us.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits. In those places, our liability is limited to the fullest extent the law allows.

15. Terms required by Apple

If you download the App from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Sofiia Triasko only, not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). We, not Apple, are responsible for the App and its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. To the extent any maintenance or support is required by law, we, not Apple, are responsible.

In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty that has not been effectively disclaimed, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price of the App to you (if you paid Apple for the App itself; in-app subscriptions follow Apple's refund rules). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation with respect to the App, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty are our responsibility.

We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the App or your possession and/or use of the App, including product-liability claims, any claim that the App fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.

In the event of any third-party claim that the App or your possession and use of it infringes that third party's intellectual-property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of that claim.

Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

Questions, complaints, and claims about the App should be directed to us at hello@vocaboost.app, not to Apple.

16. Additional terms for Google Play

If you download the App from Google Play, Google is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the App. Payments, renewals, and cancellations for Play Billing subscriptions are managed in Google Play (typically Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions). Google's Play refund policies apply to those charges.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine, excluding conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction that does not allow this choice of law to deprive you of mandatory protections, those mandatory protections still apply. Courts in Ukraine have jurisdiction, except that consumers may bring claims in their country of residence where the law requires that option.

18. General

If a provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a transfer of the App. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the App and replace any prior understandings on that subject.

19. Changes

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will notify you in the App or by email before it takes effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows the latest revision. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the App and delete your account.
